These are the foundation of generally speaking, all reptile, invertebrate or bioactive setup. These are natural detrivores and will clean the soil up regularly. These are prolific breeders so long as they have enough humidity and food. Once placed into a cage with substrate, leaf litter and moss if you so choose, these will no longer need food provided to them.
To keep and breed springtails outside of enclosures for a more controlled method of distribution, use a tub with one or no air holes. charcoal or clay. For charcoal, fill half way to the charcoal with spring, drinking or bottled water, never tap. Feed springtail food or fish flakes every 1-2 weeks, provide calcium powder monthly to stimulate growth. For clay, make a mixture of clay and water together until it is a mud like consistency, add your springtails, and feed on the same schedule with the same food options. If no air holes are provided in said container, you must open it for 10-30 seconds every 3-4 days to ensure no loss of life. REMEMBER THESE ARE HUMID, TROPICAL SPECIES OF SPRINGTAIL, THESE WILL NOT WORK FOR YOUR BEARDED DRAGON AND LIZARDS OF ARID CLIMATES ALIKE.
These will be shipped in deli cups without air holes or sealed spin top tubs without air holes to prevent any escapees during shipping. The amount purchased is merely an estimate, but try our very best to give the number requested if not more, thank you for the understanding.
